How to install Nodejs on CentOS
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this small HowTo is to help the system administrators setup NodeJS on their CentOS Server.
NOTE: The mentioned steps are successfully ran on CentOS 6 version
STEPS
Step1: Make sure we have EPEL repository installed on the system because nodejs package is a part of EPEL repository
rpm -ivh http://epel.mirror.net.in/epel/6/i386/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm
Step 2: After installing EPEL repository successfully, we need to give below command to install nodejs package & its dependencies
yum install nodejs
Step 3: Next, we also need to install npm package which is also required with nodejs
yum install npm
Step 4: Now, you should be having node & npm commands available on your system. To make sure these commands exist, run below commands:
npm -v
node -v
That's All. Your system is now installed with nodejs 🙂
